There are also several pre-done pasture mixes suitable for a wide range of conditions and stock.

SHEEP PASTURE

Perennial ryegrass, clover and cocksfoot mix. Suitable for lighter soils. Standard endophyte levels.

This mixture contains a specially selected high quality blend of Certified Nui and Moata Ryegrasses, Old Canterbury Pasture, Huia White Clover, Broad Red Clover and Cocksfoot. When sown in autumn or spring, at the recommended rate of 35kg per Ha it will result in an excellent balanced pasture which will establish quickly and last for many years.

It is important that care be taken to ensure the successful establishment of the pasture. A firm, fine and moist seedbed, free of weeds, is required. The seed should be sown at a depth of approximately 15mm using divided drill points to give better ground cover. Broadcasting may also be satisfactory if harrows and/or roller is used to cover the seed.

A fertiliser containing nitrogen, phosphate and potash will greatly assist in getting both the grasses and clovers away to a good start. We suggest Cropmaster 15 – 10 – 10 or Cropmaster 20 – 10 – 0 for this purpose.

Six months after sowing, and each subsequent year, a top dressing of superphosphate or Cropmaster is desirable to keep the pasture vigorous and high yielding.
