Luisetti Seeds was established in 1932 and has remained in the Luisetti Family to the present day. There are 3 Luisetti family members currently working for the company, which has a permanent staff of 40.
We like to establish long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers, and in some cases, have been dealing with farming families for 3 or even 4 generations.
The company began life as V. Luisetti & Co; a Grain Merchants and Seed Dressing Store on Ashley Street in Rangiora. The company name was later changed to Luisetti Seeds.
In 2009 Stapletons in Ashburton became a fully-owned subsidiary of Luisetti Seeds. In August 2009 we completed a new, centrally located, warehouse in Ashburton, including a purposely designed shed, separate offices and sealed yard.
We produce seed in New Zealand for our local customers and export New Zealand seed around the world. We regularly service our wholesale clients with marketing material, customer field days and staff training, keeping them up-to-date with our new cultivars and other developments.
We are also proud to be involved with our local community and to support young people in Canterbury.
Four years ago, Luisetti Seeds partnered with Lincoln University to support agriculture students by rewarding excellence in their plant science papers. Luisetti Seeds already had a relationship with this programme as a supporter of the Dryland Pastures Research project so an award was a natural extension. The award, guided by Luisetti Seeds, is for the top performing student in the 200 level Plant Production Systems course.
We have been the principal sponsor of Canterbury Country Rugby since 2011. We proudly support the North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury and Ellesmere sub-unions to deliver the Division 1 Luisetti Seeds Combined Country Cup, the Hunnibell Cup, Watters Cup and Coleman Shield competitions.
