Our aptly-named Fortitude barley is proving to be a solid performer with growers valuing its ability to resist scald and produce good test weights and bushel weights.
This was reinforced in Fortitude’s results in the latest Foundation for Arable Research’s Cultivar Performance Trials where the barley’s yield across two Canterbury sites (Rakaia under irrigation and St Andrew’s dryland) exceeded the Canterbury mean yield.
Having scald resistance allows Fortitude to be sown early without the need for extra fungicides. As well as scald, Fortitude has an excellent overall disease resistance package, including resistance against net blotch.
Known for its flexibility, it performs consistently well in a range of environments and sowing dates.
Fortitude is packed in 500kg and 40kg bags and is available for immediate dispatch from Luisetti Seeds Ashburton and Rangiora.
