Luisetti Seeds has continued to function as normally as possible over the lock down period. Our Rangiora and Ashburton sites remain isolated from each other (no staff member may travel between sites). Both sites continue to work a double shift with no contact between the shifts and decontamination between each shift.
Agronomists continue to visit clients’ crops in isolation and make crop protection recommendations. The products required for crops can then be delivered by our delivery vans based in Rangiora and Ashburton.
Our biggest problem at this time (in terms of the functionality of the business) has been obtaining sufficient shipping containers and shipping space to export this year’s record small seed harvest.
We are very grateful to our loyal and often long serving staff, who have left their own bubble to join one of the Luisetti Seeds bubbles and put their shoulder to what has been terrific effort from all involved.
Sometimes the unsung heroes in our operation are our store staff, who clean and pack the seed, then load seed into shipping containers or onto trucks for distribution around New Zealand. Our focus has now turned to cleaning, treating and packing cereal seed and peas for domestic sowing this year.
These staff are often not visible to clients as they will be going about their business, inside the machine room or pass you on the forklift out in the yard.
Here is a glimpse of some of our ‘behind the scenes’ Ashburton staff:
