Familiar face in new agronomist role

Jack Harnett stands in a field

Jack Harnett brings years of farming and seed industry experience to his new role.

After four years managing the Luisetti Seeds Ashburton store, Jack Harnett has hit the road and is servicing clients in the Mid Canterbury region.

Jack will be a familiar face to many of our farmers as he has lived and worked in the region all his life. He brings to his new role 18 years of hands-on farming experience and knowledge accumulated through working in the seed industry.

He has had an interesting background, beginning his working career in his family’s forestry business which planted trees- a lot of them- over one million trees every year in the 1980’s and early 1990’s.

At the age of 31, Jack went farming, working for large-scale mixed-cropping business and over 18 years, his role evolved to include scoping and overseeing investments outside the farm gate such as commercial property.

This gave Jack an insight into the world of business and experience in dealing with a range of people. It also taught him strong organisational skills which have stood him in good stead.

A move to the Luisetti Seeds store was driven by a desire to get back to working in agribusiness and his new role is a perfect fit as it allows him to get back on-farm and ensure his clients are getting the best possible service.

Jack says it is all about the people and he enjoys building strong working relationships with his clients and colleagues.

Outside work, Jack follows all sport particularly rugby and has recently hung up his boots after a 20 year referring career.
