Our garden and freezer pea contracts have been popular this year, but as is often the case, we have had some late requests for production from some of our overseas customers.
We are still looking for a few paddocks for both Rangiora and Ashburton delivery at harvest time.
With the outlook for barley softening, later paddocks intended for barley may well suit a paddock of peas, which are in the ground a short time, improve the structure and nitrogen content of your soil, are harvested early in the new year allowing subsequent crops to be sown early, require little or no fertiliser and limited chemical application. Peas are delivered directly into store so no on-farm storage is required and 70% of the proceeds of the crop is paid out after test. (Often March or April).
Talk to your Luisetti Agronomist for pea crops still available.
