In 2018, our Maimai Ryecorn cultivar was described by Nelson Marlborough Farming Magazine as “a true winter-forage option” and “a compelling choice for discerning New Zealand farmers”.
Our Maimai Ryecorn is a modern, better-performing substitute for the enduring cultivar Rahu, which has been the mainstay of ryecorn forage production in New Zealand since 1976. In trials, Maimai yields 10% more than Rahu – as much as an extra $200 worth of potential income (based on 25 cents per kg of drymatter).
Developed for winter-forage, Maimai is ideally suited to New Zealand’s tough cold winter climates, due to its resilience and cool season growth. Maimai offers the additional advantage of a potential silage harvest after regrowth in the spring.
